Artillery fungus in Portland, Oregon

Portland, Oregon, offers its share of fungus! Fungus appears on siding, on windows, even on pieces of organic mulch. A certain fungus, called “shotgun” or “artillery” fungus appears as tiny brown specks on your property. The fungus can start in organic mulch and shoot up to as high as a second floor of a home or building! These tiny brown dots can affect the appearance of your windows, siding, decks, and downspouts.

Window cleaning in Portland, Oregon, has become more challenging with the appearance of artillery fungus. Whether it is commercial window cleaning, or residential window cleaning, the trained eye is challenged all the same. The tiny spores live even on your window panes and frames and are very difficult to remove.

Precautions you can take to reduce the risk of your home or business being overtaken by shotgun fungus is to remove any organic mulch. Replacing any organic mulch with pea gravel or filbert shells or stone would reduce the livability of the artillery fungus.

Window cleaning companies, such as ours, can remove this fungus from your window panes. You, the homeowner, should be aware it is possible to reduce the occurrence of artillery fungus on your property.
